The Town of Canmore affords easy access to recreation opportunities in the Smith-Dorrien Valley, Banff National Park, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, the Bow Valley Wildlands and the Elbow-Sheep Wildlands. Within Canmore, easy family activities include biking or hiking along the Bow River and on the 70km of maintained trails inside the town boundaries – picnicking in any one of the many town parks (at least 10), including a bathing beach at Quarry Park – checking out Canmore’s new indoor playground, Elevation Place - browsing through the town’s myriad of fine shops and galleries. A little more effort will take you on a hike to Grassi Lakes (return 3.5km) or biking on the Canmore Nordic Centre trails.
