Classic studio style residences are like hotel rooms. They feature a master suite with a deluxe king-size bed and connecting full bath with a separate shower and tub; a casual living and dining area (with a TV); and a kitchenette (with a mini microwave and a mini refrigerator). Amenities include a coffeemaker, toaster, ceiling fan, wireless internet, and onsite laundry facilities. Classic studio units sleep up to 2 adult guests.
Unlike the larger one-bedroom and two-bedroom condo style residences at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor, studio residences do not have a fully equipped kitchen; dining room; living room; waterfront balcony; or water view.

Hyatt Sunset Harbor Interior Design “Makeover” -
The Hyatt Sunset Harbor Board of Directors announced in their July 2023 Newsletter that within the next several months, they are planning an interior design “makeover.” In the works are new flooring, new living room furniture, new drapery and rugs, etc. When done, all villas will have a new design reflecting the colors of Key West.
This work will be completed throughout the remainder of 2023 and into 2024. Contractors will be on site during working hours during this time. There will be construction activities and construction noise.
Hyatt Sunset Harbor Exterior Building Maintenance -
Following the collapse of the 12-story beachfront condominium in Surfside, FL in June 2021, the state of Florida basically legislated that the owners of all buildings in Florida that are 3 stories or more in height are required to have an engineering company conduct a structural inspection and prepare an inspection report with recommendations. The inspection report for the Hyatt Sunset Harbor was completed in June 2023.
In line with the recommendations of the inspection report, the Hyatt Sunset Harbor’s Board of Directors announced in July 2023 that exterior building maintenance will take place at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor throughout the remainder of 2023 and into 2024. The roof may be refurbished or replaced in 2024.
Contractors will be on site during working hours during this time. There will be construction activities and construction noise.
I have had guests stay at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor during these construction activities and thus far have had no negative comments.

o Fort Zackary Taylor State Park (possibly the best beach on Key West), swim, snorkel, fish, nature trails, cookout, or bike), and
o Mangrove Eco Tour, Paddleboarding, Kayaking, etc. at Lazy Dog adventures.
Happy Hours at the Historic Seaport (from about 4:00 to 6:30 daily). My favorites are:
o The Boathouse at Turtle Kraal (½ price appetizers and drinks)
o Alonzo’s Oyster Bar (Special priced oysters, appetizers and drinks).

o Captain Tony’s Bar (Yes, Captain Tony did not just exist in a Jimmy Buffett song. He was a real person, and I did meet him.),
o Green Parrot Bar (Key West institution since 1890), and the
o Schooner Wharf Bar (open air rustic Key West institution).

o Pepe’s Café (the oldest eatery in the Keys, uses fresh squeezed juices),

Over half a million (513,000) votes were cast in The Bubbas: 10th Annual Key West People’s Choice Awards, which are sponsored by “Keys Weekly” and occurred over a span of roughly four weeks.
